Anthony Ramos on the Elusive Transformers and G.I. Joe Crossover
Anthony Ramos opens up about the uncertain future of the Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover, urging fans to make their voices heard as studios remain tight-lipped and negotiations continue.
After the closing moments of 2023’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts teased a long-awaited team-up with G.I. Joe, fans have been left hanging, and it turns out even Anthony Ramos, one of the film’s stars, is just as much in the dark as the rest of us. Unlike some franchises that lock in release dates only to push them back, there’s been no official word on when—or if—this crossover will actually hit screens. Ramos, for his part, is encouraging punters to let the studios know they’re keen, hoping a bit of noise might get things moving.
Studios Keep Mum as Fans Wait
When quizzed by MovieWeb about what’s happening with the crossover, Ramos didn’t mince words:
Come on, talk to Paramount. I mean, everybody's buying everybody now. So Paramount, talk to Skydance or talk to whoever ... all of them, just hit them up, if you've got their number. Shout them out.
Back in the ‘80s, both Transformers and G.I. Joe were everywhere—on shelves, on telly, and in the hands of kids who’d mash the toys together for their own crossovers. Hasbro, the company behind both, would sometimes drop little nods to each other in their shows, but nothing ever hinted at a proper on-screen team-up.
Hints and Hopes, But No Dates
Rise of the Beasts marked the seventh live-action outing for the robots, while G.I. Joe has had three films to its name. The final scenes of Rise of the Beasts didn’t just drop a hint—they flat out introduced the secretive military group, making it clear the two worlds were set to collide.
Despite both franchises having a loyal following, there’s still no solid info on when this crossover might actually happen. Producers have said it’s definitely on the cards, but with Paramount in talks to merge with Skydance Media, the future of both series is up in the air. For now, it’s all just talk and speculation, with no dates or details locked in.
What’s Next for Ramos?
While fans wait for any scrap of news about the crossover, Ramos is set to appear in FX’s The Beauty, which kicks off on 21 January. The show dives into the world of high fashion, where international supermodels start dying in bizarre and grisly ways. FBI agents Cooper Madsen (Evan Peters) and Jordan Bennett (Rebecca Hall) are sent to Paris to get to the bottom of it all. As they dig deeper, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that turns ordinary people into stunners, but with some pretty nasty side effects.
Their investigation puts them on a collision course with ‘The Corporation’, led by a shadowy tech billionaire (Ashton Kutcher) who’s behind a so-called miracle drug called ‘The Beauty’. He’ll do whatever it takes to protect his empire, including unleashing his deadly enforcer, ‘The Assassin’ (played by Ramos). As the epidemic spreads, Jeremy (Jeremy Pope), an outsider, gets caught up in the chaos, searching for meaning as the agents race across Paris, Venice, Rome, and New York to stop a threat that could change humanity’s future. The Beauty is pitched as a global thriller, asking just how far people will go for perfection.
