Aaron Moten, who plays Maximus, hints that Fallout’s next season will dive into the different takes on New Vegas’ outcomes, echoing the game’s multiple possible endings.

Fallout’s second season is heading straight for New Vegas, a spot fans of the games will know well. The 2010 instalment, Fallout: New Vegas, is famous for letting players shape the ending, with several possible outcomes depending on which side you back. With the show picking up years after those events, there’s been plenty of chat about which ending will be considered ‘official’ on screen. Aaron Moten, who steps into the boots of Maximus from the Brotherhood of Steel, has shed a bit of light on what’s coming.

Different Sides of the Story

In a recent interview, Moten explained,

You know what's really interesting is our storyline, where we are in time is, it's a number of years after the events of Fallout: New Vegas. An interesting conversation Geneva [Robertson-Dworet, showrunner] and I have been having is actually about how history is written in the wasteland by whoever writes it. And different perspectives will have a different perspective on who won and who lost. It's a really beautiful thing.

He went on to say,

We see it really early on that [Lucy and the Ghoul] find out who believes themselves to be winning, and the Ghoul offering a different perspective, you know.

So, rather than picking a single outcome, the show looks set to explore how different groups remember what happened, and who they reckon came out on top.

New Vegas’ Factions and Fallout’s Shifting World

For those who haven’t played the game, New Vegas wraps up with a massive showdown, and the winner shapes what comes next. Players can throw their lot in with the NCR, Caesar’s Legion, Mr House, or go it alone for independence. But those aren’t the only groups in the mix. The show’s second season is already hinting at some changes, too. A new promo poster has revealed that the Kings—a gang of Elvis lookalikes—will be Ghouls in the series, even though they’re just regular blokes in the game. It’s a small but telling shift, showing the writers aren’t afraid to take things in a new direction.

What’s Next for Fallout Fans

Season 2 lands on Prime Video on 19 December, and there’s plenty of buzz about how the show will handle the tangled legacy of New Vegas. With the story set years after the game, and the focus on who gets to tell the tale, punters can expect a fresh take on the wasteland’s history. While we’re all waiting, there’s a heap of other new telly on the way in 2025 for those keen to see what’s next.
