Gwyneth Paltrow opens up about her much-talked-about kiss with Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme, but it's another co-star who takes the top spot in her books. Find out who and why.

Gwyneth Paltrow is set to make her return to cinemas with the upcoming sports comedy-drama Marty Supreme, starring alongside Timothée Chalamet. While the film hasn’t hit screens yet, a particular scene featuring the pair has already sparked plenty of chatter online. Despite the buzz, Paltrow has admitted there’s another on-screen moment she holds in even higher regard.

Reminiscing About a Classic Film Moment

During a recent catch-up with Ethan Hawke, 27 years after they worked together on Great Expectations, Paltrow was put on the spot about her latest film. Hawke cheekily asked if her kiss with Chalamet in Central Park was filmed at the same spot where she and Hawke shared a memorable moment in their 1998 romance. Paltrow was quick to set the record straight, replying without hesitation:

No, honey. Never. Ne-ver! I never would have done that. I never would have desecrated our make-out spot like that.

Hawke found the whole thing hilarious, even sharing that when asked about the best kisses in film history, he always gives the nod to their scene together. It seems their on-screen chemistry has left a lasting impression, both for them and for fans.

Paltrow and Chalamet’s Kiss Becomes a Talking Point

In the lead-up to Marty Supreme’s release, Paltrow appeared on Good Morning America to chat about the film and the attention surrounding her and Chalamet’s characters. Photos of the two sharing a kiss in the park quickly made the rounds, causing quite a stir among fans and even Paltrow’s own circle.

You should have seen my mommy-group chats when the paparazzi pictures came out of us kissing in the park. All the mums were pretty stoked. My British school mums too — yeah, it was like a global event, apparently.

The images of Paltrow, 53, and Chalamet, 29, certainly caught the public’s eye, and even Hawke couldn’t resist bringing it up. The moment has become a bit of a sensation, with plenty of people weighing in on the chemistry between the two stars.

Praise for Chalamet on Set

While discussing her experience filming Marty Supreme, Paltrow had nothing but good things to say about Chalamet. She spoke about the new experiences she had on set, including working with Chalamet for the first time, and shared her initial nerves about the project.

He was great… To be honest, I was a little nervous. Like, it’s a big role, and it’s a brave move to put a non-actor in a part like that, and I just thought he nailed it. I mean, everyone was so impressed.

Paltrow also mentioned how keen she was to work with Chalamet, recognising his obvious talent. In Marty Supreme, she plays Kay Stone, a retired film star who gets involved with Chalamet’s character, Marty Mauser, an aspiring ping pong champion. The story follows Marty as he chases a dream that few take seriously, facing plenty of challenges along the way.

Marty Supreme is set to hit cinemas on 25 December 2026.
