Kit Harington Shuts Down Jon Snow Audiobook Return
Kit Harington has made it clear he’s not interested in voicing Jon Snow for a Game of Thrones audiobook, saying he’s ready to leave the character behind after a decade. His planned spin-off series was also dropped due to lack of enthusiasm.
Kit Harington, best known for his long stint as Jon Snow, isn’t looking to revisit the icy wilds of Westeros any time soon. Despite once being attached to a solo project centred on his iconic character, the British actor has now firmly distanced himself from any future involvement—especially when it comes to lending his voice to an audiobook adaptation.
Not Eager for a Return
While chatting about his latest gig as Gilderoy Lockhart in the Harry Potter audiobook series, Harington was asked who he’d pick to narrate Jon Snow in a potential Game of Thrones audio version. His answer was blunt and left little room for doubt.
No, god no. I don’t wanna go anywhere near it. I spent 10 years doing that. Thanks, I’m alright.
After a decade in the role, it’s clear he’s had his fill of the brooding Night’s Watchman.
Spin-Off Series Shelved
Harington had previously been involved in developing a spin-off series, simply titled Snow, which would have picked up after the events of the original show’s eighth season. However, the project never made it past the planning stages.
We spent a couple of years back and forth developing it. And it just didn’t... nothing got us excited enough.
He went on to explain,
In the end, I kind of backed out and said, ‘I think if we push this any further and keep developing it we could end up with something that’s not good’. And that’s the last thing we all want.
The lack of genuine enthusiasm from those involved ultimately led to the idea being scrapped.
Westeros Marches On
Even though Harington’s days in the North are over, the world of Westeros is far from quiet. Fans can look forward to more tales from the realm, with House of the Dragon’s third season and the new series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms both set to arrive in 2026. There’s also word of a fourth season for House of the Dragon and a second for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms already in the pipeline. The first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is due to premiere on 18 January 2026.
For those keen to keep their watchlists fresh, there’s no shortage of much-hyped TV shows on the horizon. The Game of Thrones universe might be moving on without Jon Snow, but there’s still plenty for punters to get excited about in the coming years.
