Kristen Stewart Eyes Directing Role in Potential Twilight Reboot
Kristen Stewart has voiced her interest in returning to the Twilight saga, this time stepping behind the camera as director if a reboot ever gets the green light.
Kristen Stewart has made it clear she’s keen to get back into the world of Twilight, but not in the way punters might expect. Rather than reprising her famous on-screen role, Stewart has said she’d be up for directing a fresh take on the much-loved vampire series. In a recent chat, she reflected on her early days in the franchise and what it would mean to return, this time calling the shots from behind the lens.
Stewart spoke fondly about the directors who shaped the original films, saying,
“I love what Catherine [Hardwicke] did, I love what Chris [Weitz] did, I love what all of the directors did with the movies.”
She went on to describe the unique energy each director brought, noting how the films captured a certain rawness and individuality before the series became a global phenomenon.
“They were so themselves and weird and kind of like, squirrelly, and just so present in that time when they didn’t really know what they were yet, like before they blew up.”
Stewart’s Vision for a New Chapter
When pressed on what it would take for her to sign on as director, Stewart didn’t mince words. She reckons it’d need a hefty budget and a solid backing to do the story justice.
“A huge budget”
and
“a bunch of love and support”
are what she sees as essential to bring her vision to life. She didn’t shy away from the idea, either, making it clear she’s ready to take the reins if the opportunity comes up.
“Yeah, sure, I’ll do the remake. I’m doing it! I’m committed!”
Stewart’s connection to the franchise runs deep. She starred alongside Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner from 2008 to 2012, with the films raking in over $3 billion at the box office and cementing their place in pop culture history. The Twilight saga remains one of the most successful film series ever, and Stewart’s interest in returning signals a possible new era for the story.
Shifting Gears: From Actor to Director
While Stewart is still active in front of the camera, she’s been spending more time in the director’s chair lately. Her latest project, The Chronology of Water, features Imogen Poots, Thora Birch, and Jim Belushi, and marks another step in her growing career behind the scenes. She’s also co-written, produced, and will appear in the upcoming comedy The Wrong Girls, sharing the screen with Seth Rogen. On top of that, she’s set to feature in Flesh of the Gods, showing she’s not slowing down any time soon.
With her experience both on set and behind the camera, Stewart’s potential return to Twilight as director could bring a fresh perspective to the franchise. Fans and locals alike will be watching closely to see if this much-hyped reboot ever gets off the ground.
