Letitia Wright Set to Return as Shuri in Secret Wars
Letitia Wright has confirmed she’ll reprise her role as Shuri in Avengers: Secret Wars, with the film’s cast list still mostly under wraps. Her return as Wakanda’s protector is now official.
Marvel fans have been left guessing about who’ll show up in the much-anticipated Avengers: Secret Wars, with the studio keeping details close to its chest. While there’s been plenty of chatter about the line-up for Avengers: Doomsday, the next instalment is even more of a mystery. One name that’s now locked in, though, is Letitia Wright, who’s set to step back into the shoes of Shuri, Wakanda’s fierce defender.
There’s been talk about Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink possibly joining the fray, though her role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day hasn’t been confirmed yet. But Wright has now put all speculation to bed regarding her own involvement. In a recent chat, she shared that she’ll be filming Secret Wars next, following the wrap of Doomsday.
“That’s what I have to film next, Secret Wars,”
she said, adding that working on Doomsday was a great experience.
Wright’s Return as Wakanda’s Guardian
Wright, who’s played Shuri since 2018, spoke about what it means to return to the Marvel universe, especially after the legacy left by Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa.
“Always. Always. It’s an honour, but it’s also a tribute and a legacy for all that we’ve done in the first films, and I carry my brother every time,”
she explained.
“It’s a big, big, huge honour for me. I’m excited for the growth of Shuri to be seen in these next few films.”
She kept quiet about any details involving Victor Von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., and the looming clash with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Still, Wright made it clear she’s keen to continue Shuri’s journey, carrying forward the spirit of Wakanda and her on-screen brother.
What’s Next for the Avengers?
With Doomsday set to hit cinemas in December 2026, punters are already speculating about who else might join the line-up. There’s talk of Latveria’s infamous leader making waves, and maybe even a few X-Men popping up for good measure. But for now, Wright’s return is one of the few things we know for sure.
