Robert Pattinson Nearly Cast as Ghost Rider in Marvel Shake-Up
Robert Pattinson was reportedly considered for a major Marvel role, sparking a wave of fan reactions and speculation about the future of Ghost Rider in the MCU. Find out what’s got everyone talking.
While Robert Pattinson is busy with the next chapter of his Batman saga, word has it he was also in the running for a spot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The role? None other than Ghost Rider. Rumours suggest he was being considered for the fiery anti-hero in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, set to hit cinemas in December 2026.
According to a post from @ApocHorseman on X, there’s been no fresh news on the Ghost Rider front.
I haven’t heard any updates on Ghost Rider since posting about him. I know Pattinson was eyed for it at one point but it’s not gonna be him
The Russo Brothers, who are steering Doomsday, have a habit of introducing new faces to their superhero universe, so it’s no surprise Pattinson’s name was thrown into the mix. Still, it looks like the Twilight star won’t be donning the flaming skull helmet any time soon, if at all.
Fans Weigh In on the Ghost Rider Buzz
The internet’s been buzzing with reactions to the idea of Pattinson taking on the role. Some punters are flat-out sceptical, while others are keen to see Nicolas Cage return or reckon Ryan Gosling would be a better fit. Here’s a taste of what’s been said on X:
Can’t be Batman and ghost rider makes no sense
Bring back Nicholas Cage!!!
The guy might drive idk tho
RYAN RYAN RYAN RYAN RYAN RYAN RYAN RYAN
We know it’s Ryan
Despite all the chatter, nothing’s been locked in. These are just reports for now, so best to take it all with a grain of salt.
Ryan Gosling’s Name Thrown Into the Ring
While the Pattinson talk keeps making headlines, Ryan Gosling’s also been linked to the Ghost Rider gig for a while. During a promo for The Fall Guy last year, he told Josh Horowitz he’d be up for the part. Horowitz even cornered Kevin Feige about it, and the Marvel boss said Gosling was “amazing” and he’d “love to find a place for him in the MCU.” When pressed about any real progress, Gosling simply replied, “I don’t know.”
Emily Blunt, his co-star, didn’t expect him to sign on for a superhero flick, but Gosling was quick to say,
I would love to, it would be amazing. Come be in Ghost Rider.
As it stands, Marvel’s plans for the character are still under wraps, and it’s unclear if Ghost Rider will be a one-off or take centre stage in future supernatural projects after Avengers: Secret Wars.
Pattinson’s Next Batman Outing
Meanwhile, Pattinson’s next turn as the caped crusader is already in the works. The Batman: Part II, directed by Matt Reeves and produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, DC Studios, and 6th & Idaho Productions, is slated for release on 1 October 2027 in the US.
