Disney’s hunt for the lead in its live-action take on Rapunzel has taken another unexpected turn. Sadie Sink, once widely tipped as the top pick for the much-hyped role, is reportedly no longer being considered. The latest word comes from Jeff Sneider, who recently fielded questions about which actor is now leading the pack for the upcoming Tangled adaptation.
Earlier chatter had put Sink ahead of the pack, especially after names like Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande were said to be out of the running. However, Sneider’s recent comments didn’t mention Sink at all. Instead, he pointed to a couple of new faces who are apparently in Disney’s sights, including McKenna Grace, known for her work in Regretting You.
New Contenders Step Into the Spotlight
Not long ago, a report from Nexus Point News listed Sink alongside three other actors as the main contenders for the part. The list included McKenna Grace, Emma Myers from Wednesday, and Isabel May from 1883. But in Sneider’s latest update, most of these names were missing, with only Grace getting a mention as the current favourite.
He also brought up Freya Skye, who recently appeared in Zombies 4, as another actor Disney is apparently considering for the lead. According to Sneider, insiders reckon Grace is still the one to beat, but Skye is also in the mix.

I do, I have heard that Zombies 4 actress Freya Skye is amongst the actresses being considered for the role and Disney does like her. That said, McKenna Grace is still the favourite amongst insiders.
Despite all the speculation, Disney has kept quiet about its plans, leaving fans to guess who’ll eventually land the part. The rumour mill has been working overtime, with new names popping up every week. With filming expected to kick off next year in Spain, punters are hoping Disney will make an official announcement soon.
