Sadie Sink Rumoured for X-Men Role in Spider-Man 4
Marvel fans are buzzing after news broke that Sadie Sink could join Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Theories are flying about which iconic mutant she might play, but the studio is keeping quiet for now.
Marvel Studios sent fans into a spin when they revealed Sadie Sink, best known for her work on Stranger Things, would be joining the next Spider-Man film. She’s set to appear alongside Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and punters have been quick to speculate about her character. Some reckon she could be the daughter of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Mary Jane, while others have thrown out names like Jean Grey, the powerful mutant from the X-Men universe.
But the latest whispers suggest she’s actually lined up to play Rachel Summers, the time-travelling daughter of Scott Summers and Jean Grey. It’s a theory that’s picking up steam, and it’s not hard to see why.
Fan Theories and Multiverse Moves
One theory doing the rounds online claims Jean Grey (the Phoenix) and Scott Summers (Cyclops) have sent Rachel into another timeline—the so-called sacred one—to keep her safe from a looming threat. The rumour mill also points to Dr Doom as the next major villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, supposedly on the hunt for superpowered kids. It fits with Marvel’s recent trend of introducing younger heroes, like Ms Marvel and America Chavez, and even Thor’s now got a daughter in the mix.
Some fans reckon Dr Victor von Doom has already crossed into the X-Men timeline, forcing the two mutants to send their daughter to Earth-616. It’s a wild idea, but it lines up with the studio’s current direction.
Gender Swaps and Character Twists
Marvel’s not shy about shaking things up. The Silver Surfer was recently gender-swapped in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which has led some to wonder if Rachel Summers is another example of the studio reimagining classic characters. But to clear things up, the Silver Surfer in the Pedro Pascal film wasn’t Norrin Radd, but Shalla-Bal—his love interest from the comics.
As for Rachel, she’s not just a female version of Cable. She’s his sister, and while she shares his knack for time travel, she’s got her own unique powers. Josh Brolin played Cable in Deadpool 2, but it’s worth noting that Cable is actually the son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, Jean Grey’s clone, not Jean herself. Madelyne Pryor has already popped up in X-MEN ‘97, so the groundwork’s there.
Rachel Summers: Mutant with a Difference
Rachel Summers stands out as the daughter of Cyclops and Phoenix, and half-sister to Cable. The siblings have teamed up in groups like X-Force, but Rachel’s abilities set her apart. She combines telekinesis with the Phoenix Force, letting her travel through time and across dimensions. What’s more, she’s the only version of herself in the multiverse—no alternate Rachels out there.
There’s also talk that mutants might already be living in Earth-616, with Rachel as the first to make contact. With the world having forgotten Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is Spider-Man, it could be the perfect time for the X-Men to reach out, especially since Xavier’s School is all about helping gifted youngsters find their place.
Let us know what you make of these theories. Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit cinemas on 18 December 2026.
