Sebastian Stan is reportedly in talks to join Robert Pattinson in The Batman 2, following news of Scarlett Johansson’s possible involvement. Details on their roles remain tightly under wraps.

With production on the much-hyped sequel set to kick off this spring, word is Marvel’s Sebastian Stan could be lining up alongside Robert Pattinson in the next chapter of Matt Reeves’ Gotham saga. This fresh casting buzz comes hot on the heels of reports that Scarlett Johansson is also in the mix for a role, adding even more star power to the already stacked line-up.

Just like Johansson, there’s been no official word on who Stan might be playing. The plot for the follow-up is being kept under lock and key, with only a handful of people in the know. That hasn’t stopped fans from speculating wildly about which character the Thunderbolts actor could bring to life if he signs on.

Speculation Mounts Over Stan’s Role

Johansson’s rumoured part has sparked plenty of chatter, with some suggesting she could be Bruce Wayne’s new flame. But according to Jeff Sneider, there’s a chance she’s actually up for the role of Gilda Gold, a character with a much darker edge.

In the comics, Gilda Gold is married to Harvey Dent, which has led many to reckon Stan could be in line to play Dent himself. If that’s the case, it would be a big get for the production, given the character’s iconic status in Batman lore.

Drawing From Classic Batman Stories

The upcoming film is said to take inspiration from The Long Halloween, a story where Gilda Gold operates as the Holiday Killer to help ease Dent’s burden. If the sequel follows a similar path, it wouldn’t be a stretch to see Stan step into the shoes of Gotham’s infamous district attorney.

Matt Reeves has a track record of casting top-tier talent as Batman’s adversaries, with Paul Dano, Barry Keoghan, and Colin Farrell all taking on villainous roles in the first outing. Bringing Stan on board as Dent would fit right in with that approach.

Fans Eager for Official News

For now, nothing’s set in stone, and punters will have to wait for an official announcement from the filmmakers. The secrecy around the project has only fuelled more theories about who might be joining the cast and what direction the story will take.
