Spider-Man: Brand New Day Set to Collide With Daredevil’s World
Rumours swirl as Spider-Man: Brand New Day teases a crossover with Daredevil’s universe, hinting at major roles for Matt Murdock and The Hand. Find out what’s brewing in the MCU.
Marvel fans are buzzing about the next big chapter for the web-slinger, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day shaping up to be a real game-changer. The much-anticipated film will see Tom Holland back in the suit, joined by Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. But the latest whispers suggest the story could be heading into darker territory, with notorious foes from the Defenders’ corner making their presence felt.
The Hand: Shadowy Threats Lurk in the MCU
Word is, The Hand – the secretive group of assassins familiar to anyone who’s watched the Defenders on Netflix – are set to stir up trouble. While their past run-ins have mostly been with Daredevil, they’ve also tangled with the likes of Elektra and Wolverine. In the comics, The Hand is an ancient Japanese organisation, blending ninja skills, mystic arts, and a knack for pulling strings in both politics and crime. Their belief? Only the strong deserve to survive, and they’re not shy about enforcing that with a bit of ritualistic violence.
What really sets The Hand apart is their devotion to a dark deity called The Beast. This supernatural figure gives them the power to resurrect the dead, but demands plenty of bloodshed in return. With The Hand now stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the stakes for Peter Parker are about to get a whole lot higher. He’s already got his hands full with villains like The Scorpion and the Sinister Six, so adding a cult of undead ninjas to the mix is hardly going to make life easier.
Matt Murdock’s Potential Return
Given The Hand’s history with Daredevil, punters are speculating that Charlie Cox could be suiting up as Matt Murdock once again. The Netflix series showed just how much chaos The Hand can cause, and with the Defenders slowly making their way back into the MCU, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Murdock pop up in Brand New Day. If he does, it could open the door for even bigger crossovers down the track.
There’s talk that if Daredevil is involved, he might end up joining the action in Avengers: Doomsday or even Secret Wars. In the comics, Murdock once fell under The Beast’s influence during the Shadowland storyline, gaining powers that put him in a league of his own. With Marvel Studios always keen for a spectacle, it’s not out of the question for something similar to play out on the big screen.
What’s Next for the MCU?
With Peter Parker already an established Avenger and the possibility of Murdock gaining new abilities, the stage could be set for both heroes to play a part in the MCU’s Phase 6 finale. The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit cinemas on 18 December 2026, with the Russo Brothers at the helm and a star-studded cast including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, and Anthony Mackie.
As for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it’s locked in for a US release on 31 July 2026. Whether or not we’ll see Spider-Man and Daredevil team up against The Hand – or even make it to the final showdown in Secret Wars – remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: Marvel fans are in for a wild ride.
