Stephen Graham hints at a second season for Adolescence after its award-winning debut. The Netflix series has captured global attention, leaving fans eager for more.

After its first run made waves around the globe, there’s talk that Adolescence could be back for another round on Netflix. The drama, led by Owen Cooper as a teenager accused of a shocking crime, has Stephen Graham in the role of his dad. Graham, who also co-created the series with Jack Thorne, kept things mysterious when asked about a follow-up.

“I cannot answer that question because it's somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack's mind, and we'll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned,”

he said at the Golden Globes.

Rumblings about a second instalment first surfaced in April 2025. Dede Gardner, co-president at Plan B Entertainment, mentioned they were

“thinking about how they can widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA [and] not be repetitive.”

The show cleaned up at the Golden Globes, nabbing four trophies including Best Limited Series. Graham, Cooper, and Erin Doherty all took home acting honours for their performances. With 142.6 million views, it’s now Netflix’s second most-watched English-language series ever. What’s next for the story is still up in the air, but the first season didn’t shy away from tough topics, including the rise of online manosphere culture.

Critical Acclaim and Industry Buzz

Adolescence has been showered with praise from critics and viewers alike. Among its fans is Hideo Kojima, who called it

“A masterful fusion of meticulously calculated one-shot cinematography and direction that draws out the show’s core themes. It vividly exposes the fear and anguish experienced by both children in their formative years and the families who watch over them.”

The series’ unique approach and raw storytelling have set it apart from the usual fare, making it a talking point among industry insiders and punters alike.

What Lies Ahead for the Series

Despite all the buzz, there’s still no official word on what a second season might look like or when it could land. The creative team seem keen to avoid repeating themselves, aiming to keep the heart of the show intact while exploring new ground. For now, fans will have to be patient and keep an eye out for any updates. In the meantime, those who missed out can catch Adolescence streaming on Netflix.
