Teyana Taylor clinched her first Golden Globe for Best Female Supporting Actor, moving the crowd with a heartfelt speech that resonated with Black women everywhere.

Singer and actor Teyana Taylor took home her first ever Golden Globe at the 2026 ceremony, nabbing the award for Best Female Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. The night kicked off with Taylor’s win, announced by Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Garner. Clearly overwhelmed, Taylor was visibly emotional as she made her way to the stage, wiping away tears and trying to keep it together.

Before stepping up to the microphone, Taylor shared a quick moment with fellow nominee Julia Roberts. Turning to face the crowd, she revealed a sparkling, diamond-studded thong peeking through a cut-out in her black dress. Still in disbelief, she joked,

‘I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I would get this.’

Family and Gratitude

Spotting her two daughters watching from the balcony at The Beverly Hilton, Taylor called out,

‘Y’all better be off them damn phones and watching me right now.’

She went on to thank director Paul Thomas Anderson, saying,

‘Thank you for your vision, your trust and your brilliance. My gratitude is endless.’

Her appreciation for the team behind One Battle After Another was clear, and she made sure to acknowledge the support that helped her reach this milestone.

A Message for Black Women

As she wrapped up her speech, Taylor turned her attention to Black women and girls watching the ceremony. She said,

‘To my Brown sisters and little Brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability.’

She continued,

‘Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space.’

Her words struck a chord, offering encouragement and solidarity to those who often feel overlooked.

A Night of Recognition

Taylor’s win saw her edge out a strong field, including Amy Madigan (Weapons), Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Sentimental Value), Emily Blunt (The Smashing Machine), and Ariana Grande (Wicked: For Good). The Gonna Love Me singer’s victory marked a significant moment, not just for her career, but for representation on one of the industry’s biggest stages.
