Tom Holland playfully ribs Marvel over Sadie Sink: "Must be nice"
Tom Holland has publicly reacted to new speculation linking Sadie Sink to a Marvel role, leaving the nature of his interest unstated for now.
At a global press conference, Marvel chief Kevin Feige said filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton didn’t make Sadie Sink audition for Spider-Man: Brand New Day—he picked her after working with her on The Glass Castle. No screen tests, no months-long process, just a call and a yes.
Tom Holland couldn’t resist reacting in the room, joking about how easy that sounded compared with his own path to the suit.
“Must be nice!.. Must be nice,” Holland cracked.
Holland’s wink landed because his Spider-Man casting famously took seven months and eight auditions, with the role reportedly narrowed from more than 2,500 hopefuls. Sink, by contrast, was tapped on past experience—and trust.
Jokes aside, Holland backed up the shortcut with praise, saying Sink brings real calm to the MCU pressure cooker and even “steals the movie” in the third act. Sink, for her part, has said Holland made the set feel welcoming.
Who is she playing?
Marvel Studios and Sony are keeping Sink’s character under lock and key, a level of secrecy that usually signals the role matters beyond a one-off appearance. She reportedly spent significant time on the film, and the studio hasn’t put her name to any character yet.
The rumor mill has zeroed in on Jean Grey as the mystery role, and separate reports have floated a multi-film pact that could include Avengers: Secret Wars. None of that is confirmed by Marvel or Sony. For now, both studios are keeping her identity in Spider-Man: Brand New Day under wraps.
