Will Arnett Steps In for David Harbour in Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth!
A shake-up in the cast of Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth! sees Will Arnett taking over from David Harbour, joining a star-studded line-up in this tribute to film music and its creators.
There’s been a bit of a shuffle on the set of Tony Gilroy’s latest project, Behemoth!, with Will Arnett now stepping into a role originally meant for David Harbour. The switch doesn’t seem to have rattled anyone, least of all Gilroy, who’s known for keeping things moving. Arnett, a familiar face from Arrested Development, is now set to join a cast that’s already turning heads, including Pedro Pascal, Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Matthew Lillard, Alexa Swinton, Margarite Levieva, and Barry Livingston.
Behemoth! is being billed as a heartfelt nod to the music that brings films to life, and the folks who make it all happen behind the scenes. The line-up of talent is impressive, with each actor bringing their own flair to the table. Pascal, who’s been making waves in everything from The Last of Us to big-budget blockbusters, is taking on the part of Alex Serian, a musician with a passion for the cello.
Pascal’s Dedication to the Role
Gilroy recently shared a bit about Pascal’s approach to his character, noting that he’s been spotted out and about with a cello in tow.
“He’s a cellist in the film. He’s practising the cello very diligently and plus, we want him to be able to carry the cello anywhere he can,”
Gilroy explained. The director compared Pascal’s commitment to a past experience with Keanu Reeves, who had to get used to wearing a suit for months before filming The Devil’s Advocate.
“When we did The Devil’s Advocate, when Keanu [Reeves] first came in I remember we were like, ‘He’s gonna be a lawyer? Oh my God...’, and I remember Taylor Hackford said three months out: ‘You gotta put a suit on now and you’re never f****** taking that suit off until we start shooting’, because he looked so weird in a suit. Three months later, he’d worn a suit everywhere he ever went and he had, like, it worked. And carrying a cello case will turn you into a cellist if you do it long enough.”
Star-Studded Ensemble
With Arnett now on board, the film’s ensemble is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about in recent memory. Olivia Wilde, known for her work both in front of and behind the camera, joins the cast alongside Eva Victor, who’s made a name for herself on Billions, and Matthew Lillard, fresh from his role in Five Nights at Freddy’s. Alexa Swinton, Margarite Levieva, and Barry Livingston round out the group, each bringing their own unique energy to the production.
Gilroy, who’s no stranger to critical acclaim thanks to his Oscar-nominated work on Michael Clayton, seems unfazed by the casting change. The director’s focus remains firmly on telling a story that celebrates the unsung heroes of film music, and the passion that drives them.
Behind the Scenes
While the change in cast might have thrown some productions off course, the team behind Behemoth! appears to be taking it all in stride. Arnett’s arrival is being met with enthusiasm, and the rest of the cast seem keen to get stuck into their roles. With filming underway, punters are already speculating about how this tribute to the world of film music will come together on the big screen.
As the project moves forward, all eyes are on Gilroy and his cast to see how they’ll bring this unique story to life. With a blend of seasoned performers and fresh faces, Behemoth! is shaping up to be a film that’s as much about the people behind the music as it is about the tunes themselves.
