Zoe Saldaña’s latest blockbuster, Avatar: Fire and Ash, has pushed her to the top of the highest-grossing actors list, overtaking Scarlett Johansson. Her films have now raked in over $15.4 billion worldwide.

Zoe Saldaña has just climbed to the very top of the box office ladder, thanks to the roaring success of Avatar: Fire and Ash. It’s not exactly a shock, given she’s been front and centre in some of the biggest film franchises around, taking on memorable roles like Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Neytiri in the Avatar series, and Nyota Uhura in Star Trek. With this latest hit, she’s nudged Scarlett Johansson out of the top spot, leaving Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Pratt trailing behind. Altogether, Saldaña’s films have now pulled in more than $15.4 billion across the globe.

Back in 2023, she became the first actor to notch up four films each earning over $1 billion worldwide. Now, she’s set another record in a career already packed with box office smashes.

Blockbuster Roles and Career Highlights

Since making her film debut in the early 2000s, Saldaña has been a regular in major blockbusters. She’s appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, all three Avatar instalments, five Marvel films—including the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame—and the trio of Star Trek reboots. Last year, she picked up an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her turn in the musical Emilia Pérez. At the moment, she’s also starring in the Paramount+ series Lioness.

Her knack for landing roles in much-hyped franchises has made her a familiar face to punters everywhere, and her box office track record is now unmatched.

The Future of Avatar and What’s Next

On the big screen, the future of the Avatar saga is still a bit up in the air. James Cameron hasn’t confirmed whether Avatar 4 will go ahead.

“I don’t know if the saga goes beyond this point. I hope it does,”

he said recently, leaving fans guessing.

“I’m not going to rule it out. I mean, I’ve got to make it in a vigorous way, to handle the kind of volume and energy of the work for another six or seven years. You know what I mean? I might not be able to do that,”

he added.

For now, Avatar 4 is still pencilled in for a cinema release on 21 December 2029, with a new narrator already locked in.
