Mia Goth’s career has soared thanks to her bold choices and standout roles, even as she admits to a complicated relationship with acting. With major projects on the horizon, she’s set to make an even bigger mark.

There’s a certain way the film industry latches onto fresh talent, and when it comes to Mia Goth, it’s been a slow burn rather than an overnight sensation. While some actors get thrown into every big-budget flick going, Goth’s journey has been more measured, marked by a string of unique and memorable performances that have steadily built her reputation. She’s not just another face on a poster—her work has genuinely turned heads, and she’s managed to keep things interesting along the way.

Goth’s first major gig was no small feat—she made her debut in Lars Von Trier’s ‘Nymphomaniac’ at just 19. That’s not the sort of film you take on if you’re shy about making a statement. But it was her collaboration with Ti West on a trio of horror films—‘X’, ‘Pearl’, and ‘MaXXXine’—that really put her on the map. Each film is its own beast, but Goth’s performances tie them together, shifting from a naive starlet to a chillingly unhinged character with ease. Her work in ‘Pearl’, especially the now-iconic “I’m a star!” moment and a nine-minute monologue, has become the stuff of internet legend.

Chasing the Challenge

Goth isn’t one to shy away from tough roles. She’s said before that she reckons art should push boundaries, ask tough questions, and sometimes even shock the punters. She’s not just picking roles for the sake of it—there’s a real sense she’s after something deeper. In her own words:

The truth is, I hate acting. Acting is actually the hardest thing to do. It’s this elusive thing, and you think you have it – it’s like trying to grip smoke. (But) I love it so much.

That push-pull is part of what makes her so compelling to watch.

It was only a matter of time before the big studios came calling. Over the past couple of years, she’s moved from indie projects to major productions, including a standout turn in Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ for Netflix. But if you want to see her at her most daring, ‘Infinity Pool’ from 2023 is a wild ride. Directed by Brandon Cronenberg, the film is a twisted, unsettling trip that’s not for the faint-hearted, and Goth leads the charge with a performance that’s both magnetic and disturbing.

On the Verge of Blockbuster Fame

Born in London, Goth’s now firmly in the big leagues. She’s set to star alongside Ryan Gosling in ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ in 2027, and she’s got a role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic, ‘The Odyssey’, which is set for a global IMAX release next July. There’s also the much-delayed Marvel ‘Blade’ reboot, where she’ll be taking on a key part. Goth’s not fussed about the wait, saying the team behind it is focused on making something special:

That’s the sense that I get from them, and that feels good.

With each new project, Goth keeps proving she’s not just another actor swept up by the Hollywood machine. She’s carving out her own path, one challenging role at a time, and it doesn’t look like she’ll be slowing down any time soon.
