Arden Cho, lead in KPop Demon Hunters, was stunned by a two-hour call from Linda Larkin, the original voice of Disney’s Princess Jasmine, who praised her performance.

Arden Cho, who leads the cast of KPop Demon Hunters, recently shared a story that left fans grinning. Not long after the film’s release, Cho received a surprise phone call from Linda Larkin, the original voice behind Disney’s Princess Jasmine. The chat, which stretched out for two hours, was a bit of a pinch-me moment for Cho.

Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Cho recalled,

“A couple months after the movie came out, Linda Larkin, the voice of Princess Jasmine, called me and we had a two-hour phone conversation. I put it on speaker, because, for the first hour, I was like, 'Is this really happening? Am I talking with Jasmine?'”

Larkin, who first voiced Jasmine in the 1992 animated classic Aladdin, has been a staple in the Disney world, reprising her role in sequels like The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves. That original film was a box office smash, becoming the first animated feature to crack the half-a-billion mark.

Words of Praise from a Disney Icon

During their lengthy chat, Larkin didn’t hold back on the compliments. She told Cho she was genuinely impressed by her work as Rumi, the main character in KPop Demon Hunters.

“Well, she wanted to congratulate me, and she actually told me [that], as a voice actor, she was really impressed with my work with Rumi, and she loved the depth and the layers and all of it. I think at one point we were both crying. And she was like, 'You're gonna be a modern-day princess!'

Cho admitted the conversation got emotional, with both actors tearing up at one point.

KPop Demon Hunters: A New Hit for Netflix

The film itself follows Huntr/x, a girl group who use their vocal talents to fend off demonic threats. Their main rivals, the Saja boys, are a boy band with a secret – they’re actually demons in disguise. Cho voices Rumi, the group’s lead singer, who’s caught between two worlds as the daughter of a demon and a demon hunter.

KPop Demon Hunters has become a massive hit for Netflix, quickly climbing to the top of the platform’s charts. Before the end of 2025, it had already racked up 500 million views, making it the most-watched original film on the service.
