Harry Styles may be a music icon, but his journey on the big screen has been a mixed bag. We break down all his film roles, from the forgettable to the truly impressive.

Harry Styles is a household name in the music world, but his foray into acting has been a bit of a rollercoaster. With just four films under his belt, the quality of his performances and the projects themselves have varied wildly. Here’s a look at every film he’s appeared in, from the ones that missed the mark to the one that truly shines.

Glorified Cameo: Eternals

Styles made a brief appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, popping up in the post-credits scene of what many punters reckon is Marvel’s most misunderstood film. He played Eros, Thanos’ brother, but his role was little more than a quick smile before the credits rolled. The film itself didn’t fare well, and with no real dialogue or development for Styles’ character, it’s easy to forget he was even there. This outing sits at the bottom of the pile, not just because of the film’s lukewarm reception, but because Styles barely had a chance to do anything at all.

Trying Too Hard: My Policeman

Based on Bethan Roberts’ 2012 novel, this period romance set in 1950s Britain saw Styles take on the role of Tom Burgess, a policeman hiding his sexuality. The film, released in 2022, had Styles caught in a complicated love triangle. Critics were split: some praised his effort, while others felt he was overdoing it. Focusing heavily on his accent and mannerisms, Styles’ performance came across as a bit stiff, as if he was still finding his feet in the acting world. It wasn’t a disaster, but it did feel like a classic case of a beginner actor still working things out.

Chaotic Drama: Don’t Worry Darling

Don’t Worry Darling was surrounded by controversy from the get-go, with reports of on-set drama and clashes between cast and director. Styles played Jack Chambers, husband to Florence Pugh’s Alice. As the story unravelled, things got increasingly bizarre, with reality itself called into question. While Styles delivered some genuinely unsettling moments, he was often overshadowed by Pugh’s powerhouse performance. Despite the chaos, this film stands as his second-strongest role so far.

Standout Performance: Dunkirk

Back in 2017, Styles took on the role of Alex, a young soldier stranded on the beaches of Dunkirk in Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed war film. Here, he shed his pop star image entirely, blending in with the rest of the cast as a desperate bloke just trying to survive. Nolan’s direction meant Styles relied on subtle expressions and silence rather than dialogue, and it worked. He didn’t stand out as a celebrity, but as a convincing, terrified kid caught in a nightmare. Dunkirk remains the clear highlight of his acting career to date.
