Tatiana Maslany Pokes Fun at She-Hulk Exit Rumours
Tatiana Maslany playfully addressed speculation about her She-Hulk future, hinting she might not be done with the role despite the show's cancellation and swirling Avengers: Doomsday rumours.
When She-Hulk: Attorney at Law landed on Disney+ back in 2022, it copped a fair bit of flak from punters, even though critics gave it a solid 80% rating. The series brought back familiar faces like Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Tim Roth as Abomination, and Benedict Wong as Wong, but still, it was hammered for its CGI, and some folks reckoned it was just a 'man-hating feminist' show with a quirky sense of humour that didn’t quite fit the usual Marvel vibe. With that sort of reception, a second season was always a long shot, leaving heaps of storylines and She-Hulk herself in limbo.
Recently, a rumour started doing the rounds on X, claiming Maslany was meant to have a major role in Avengers: Doomsday but knocked it back. That got people wondering if someone else would step into the role. But Maslany, during a spot on the Comedy Bang! Bang! podcast, seemed to be taking the mickey out of the whole thing, joking about turning down the part and possibly sparking the rumour herself. When asked if she was in Doomsday, she replied:
"Nope. Disney has approached me to play She-Hulk again. Guys, I said no. Because I just did. This is the facts. They're out there. You can read the articles about it. I was really mad at them for kicking me out of the movie. I was just mad. I'm woke. It's woke feminist stuff… I was like, 'How dare you cast a woman in this role? That's disgusting. I’m embarrassed to even be here.’ They really wanted me to be in Doomsday, Avengers-style, or whatever. I turned them down. I'm confirming it here."
Unfinished Business in the MCU
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law left a bunch of loose ends for the Marvel universe. Hulk’s son, the connection between She-Hulk and Daredevil (which didn’t get a mention in Daredevil: Born Again), what’s next for Abomination, and more – all up in the air now that the show’s been shelved. There’s no word on when, or if, any of these threads will get picked up again.
On top of the lukewarm response to the series, Maslany herself hasn’t shied away from speaking out about Disney lately, which might have played a part in her uncertain future with the studio. She made headlines during the Jimmy Kimmel suspension in September 2025, urging subscribers to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN to cancel their accounts. She posted a snap of herself in her She-Hulk motion capture suit on Instagram to get the message across. Still, there’s never been any official word of a falling out between her and the studio.
Maslany’s Playful Response
Despite all the speculation, Maslany’s tongue-in-cheek comments about turning down Avengers: Doomsday suggest she’s not taking the rumours too seriously. Her playful attitude leaves the door open for a possible return, and fans are left guessing whether She-Hulk’s story is really over. For now, it seems Maslany is happy to keep everyone on their toes, and the fate of her character remains as uncertain as ever.
